The School
The Federal Government College, Ilorin opened on February 15, 1973, on a temporary site along Lagos Road. On admission were 145 Students made up of 116 boys and 29 girls, most of them were registered for Form One but a few came in for the sixth-form (HSC).
In September 1976, the School moved to its 80-hectare permanent site along Ilorin-Igbeti Road. With the constraints of space removed, the Institution was able to embark on a more rapid process of expansion, a trend that has continued. The founding Principal of the School was Mr. A. Bola Olaniyan. He stayed on to nurture the school till November
About Us
FGC Ilorin Old Students Association is the official Alumni body of all old students who attended or finished from FGC Ilorin . From the early 1990s, there were efforts at pulling the alumni of FGC Ilorin across sets together through some informal convening but there was no traction gained towards the formal organisation of the Association reputation and resources to the cause of the formal registration of the Federal Government College Ilorin. And so today, we stand as one, united by the vision of the founding members of the FGCIOSA
Again, there was some lull in activities of the Association until 2013 when another group of alumnae stirred up interest in vitalising the Association. Realising this vision was helped by the fact that the school was to clock 40 years in September 2014. With a successful 5-day celebration of the 50th anniversary in Ilorin in 2023, there has been no stopping and the following 10 years have been years of mobilising alumnae, galvanising interest and fostering confidence in the Association. In between, many class-sets have organised themselves and this has facilitated building a more inclusive and stronger general Association.
Today, we can confidently say the FGCIOSA is a natural extension and expression of our spirit of unity in this age of globalization.
Our Objectives and Mandate
Our purpose is to promote and foster fellowship among alumni of FGC Ilorin (which we also fondly call FGCIOSA), promote the well-being of our members and to advance the interests, influence and reputation of FGCIOSA by establishing a medium through which old students to can aggregate their strengths in giving back to the School. Our Old Students also offers us a forum to engage intellectually and network with others.

Although membership is individually-based, the Association leverages the Class sets for more effective functioning. The annual membership dues is payable by sets.
Governance
The Association is run by an elected Executive Committee, which is accountable to the members. Members participate fully in the affairs. While a Board of Trustee know as the BOT exists to oversee the FGCIOSA Executive Committee.
