PORT-HARCOURT CHAPER REPORT

2024 has come and gone. To God be the glory we have ended another year and none was missing. The Port-Harcourt branch roll call is up to 50 on list. One of the major highlights of 2024 is the CHANGE OF GUARD OF EXECUTIVE MEMBERS. An election was held during a meeting on Sunday January 4th 2024. The new executives emerged as follows: Chairman: Ekene Achu Vice Chairman: Adesesan Omitayo Welfare Secretary: nil. Financial Secretary: Osita OnunKwo PRO: Kamil Olaniyi Secretary: Blessing Adisa Teasurer: nil. There were two vacant positions, and the house unanimously voted that the newly elected Secretary will oversee the functions of the Welfare Secretary while the newly elected Financial Secretary will oversee the functions of the Treasurer. The Branch has been trying very hard to pull members to come together for meetings and activities and the turnout has not been very impressive but keeps improving.

Our Whatsapp group has been very effective and helpful in staying in touch and communicating over the years through various events. We have about 45 on the Whatsapp forum. Mass SMS was equally used to reach individual members. We hold our Meetings once in two months or three times in two months. 2024 was a year of increased bonding. Excos were very pertinent about increasing the attendance to meetings and functions of our members. Members were always tasked to stay in touch through meet-ups, weddings, ceremonies and other engagements as well as celebrating each other when a person had won an award or investiture. Welfare has always been a strong strength of the branch. Members were assisted when they asked for it. Welfare and the extending of hands to members in need, was very expressive too. Sadly though: two of our members lost their parents.

The FGCIOSA PHC Vice Chairman Adesesan Omitayo of 1989 lost his father and also Chief Broderick Arigbodi of 1983 set lost his mother during the year 2024 in review. FGCIOSA PHC branch participated in both events. An addition was also made into the family as a bouncing baby Boy was born into the Family of the PRO Kamil Olaniyi. The grand event of the year was the end of year family party/get together which was held on Sunday 8th December 2024. It was a very grand occasion with plenty to eat and drink and music to dance. The occasion was graced by the FGCIOSA National president too.

The branch is equally working hard to make sure that as many of its members as possible who would want to go to Abuja for the 2025 AGM will be there. In retrospect, 2024 has been lenient on the branch and the good lord was good to us all. Despite the harsh economy in the country, members always rallied around each other and sponsored events enormously. We count our blessings and give Glory to the lord for a year that has gone by.
