Handover & Inaugural Meeting of the New Executives
The handover ceremony and first meeting of the newly elected executives was held on the 27th of July 2024. Brief handover and acceptance speeches were given, statements of finance were made and conversations about the progress of the group were held.
Dues
The new executives hit the ground running by first amending the monthly dues of members in line with current realities. After an extensive deliberation, it was unanimously agreed that the monthly dues of members should be increased from N1000 to N2000. Members had the option to pay their dues monthly, quarterly or annually. This new development was communicated to the main group and has been well received judging by the payment of due drive embarked upon by the new executives.
Projects
In order to ensure a transparent tenure where finances are monitored and managed properly, the executives went ahead to open a bank account in the name of FGCIOSA 2007 class. This account will be used for all payments going forward for better management and record keeping. In addition, the executives are currently considering safe, tested and trusted options for investment of funds for maximum efficiency.
Welfare
The welfare of all our members is top priority. We have proven so through the disbursement of funds for welfare packages for members in need. This ranges from financial support, healthcare needs and voluntary donations for celebrations. The recipient must be an active member, vetted by the welfare team and receives a fixed stipend on behalf of the group. We also encouraged team bonding activities at the end of year 2024 and the region representatives partnered with ex-classmates in their region to hold these events successfully. We’ll continue to encourage the group to actively participate in both physical and virtual activities to keep the group engaged. Vetted job opportunities and business ideas for members are posted on the group WhatsApp from time to time and we encourage members to apply/engage as they deem fit.
Challenges
The running of this group is not without its challenges. We understand that many members are working hard to make ends meet and it’s challenging to hold meetings as frequently as we would like too. More so, the executives have so many ideas to propel the group forward, support the larger FGCIOSA, impact our Alma mater etc., but financial constraints made it difficult to pursue these ideas. We will keep trying our best with the limited resources we have.
Financial Statement.
The sum of six hundred and eight two thousand naira (N682,000) have been paid as due for the year 2024 by FGCIOSA 2007 set. Withdrawal of three hundred and thirty thousand naira (N330,000) was made for the Mini Lagos party and Ilorin party. One hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000) was given to the Ilorin mini reunion party and one hundred and eighty thousand naira (N180,000) was also given to the Lagos mini reunion party. The current balance is three hundred and fifty-two thousand naira (N352,000).
Conclusion
We remain committed to delivering on our mission as executives of the FGCIOSA 2007 set and we will continue to impact ourselves, our group and the larger community as we move forward. Warm Regards.
Ibrahim Akosile President
