ABUJA CHAPTER REPORT

The FGCIOSA Abuja Chapter is thrilled to welcome you all to the 14th Annual General Meeting, Abuja 2025 themed (Pride in our past, Unity in our future) and are delighted to be your host this year as we strive to be the most vibrant FGCIOSA Chapter. The year 2024 was a turning point for the chapter and the beginning of a strategic direction in revamping and projecting the chapter for greatness, and this was agreed during the Chapter’s meeting of 26th of November 2023 where the 2024 objectives were identified To conduct an election to replace the existing executives & revamp the chapter. Nominate members to vie for National positions. Ensure an excellent representation of the school during the 2024 USOSA games. During the first meeting on the 4th of February, 2024, held at the premises of Womzy Tourist Hotel, owned by an esteemed chapter member, Mr Chioma Ehiribe.

There was an election and a new set of executives were elected led by Fode Otite Ovie Temiagin as the chairperson, Alaya Kaosara Ameen (VC), Ayodeji Bamigbola (Secretary), Hassan Kayode Balogun (Financial Secretary), Qasim Egbewole (PRO), Joke Murgan (Welfare) and Bamanga Mohammed (Treasurer) During the meeting two members were nominated to vie for National positions during the coming AGM held in Lagos, the nominees of the chapter were elected during the AGM. The Chapter is excited to have Mr. Taiwo Babaita (National General Secretary) and Mr. Abiola (Treasurer) who are illustrious members of the Abuja Chapter. The Association was well represented during the USOSA games on the 26th and 27th of April 2024 at the Hockey Pitch of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja and participants came from the Lagos and Ilorin chapters to ensure we were well represented. We won some team events and were considered the most vibrant team of the games due to our flashy uniform and dexterity in games we participated. 

The current executives have organized two general meetings for the chapter which were held on June 2, 2024, and November 10, 2024, respectively at Raberto Schools, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2. We express our gratitude to our dear members The Ozigis for giving us their facility for free. During the first meeting, the chapter manifestos were shared by the executives to those in attendance and shared on the chapter Whatsapp group, expressing the vision and mission as well as how these can be achieved and it was well received by members and some of the activities have already been executed while some are being delayed would be implemented at the appropriate time.

Meeting attendance improved in 2024 and is expected to rise as we continue deploying the activities as outlined in our manifesto and we expect more interest from all old students residing in Abuja. in particular and Northern Nigeria in general, as we continue to strive to be the most vibrant FGCI chapter Finally, we welcome you and are excited about the opportunity to host the AGM again and we have put in all our resources both human and material to ensure that you have the best time during your stay in Abuja.
